This is not Mother Teresa! It’s a common bullion coin that should be labeled correctly in Proxibod auctions.


One of the common misconceptions in numismatics is that this common bullion coin either is Mother Teresa. Actually, the coin portrait and one of the world’s most holy women in history, Mother Teresa, look nothing like each other.

The coin celebrates Austrian Empress Maria Theresa who died in 1780, the date of the restrike.

Thus, it is not only important to state the correct title of the woman depicted in the portrait but also that this is not an 1780 coin.
