We have been noticing some auctions, including veteran ones, are not filling out title and lot descriptions accurately, thereby risking that bidders will not raise their maximums on lots.
It’s a small error that can cost auctioneers and consignors higher bids, and that is reversing the placement of a title and description in the lot information window of a Proxibid auction. Look at the image above and you will see such terms as BU and Proof.
In the picture below, this is how a bidder receives an alert via email that his or her maximum has been surpassed by another Proxibidder, when an auctioneer or employee fills out the description erroneously. (Click picture to expand.)
Taking time with technology, from digital photography to lot descriptions, not only will increase your bottom line but also will be a service to bidder and consignor alike.
